Details of this update and their benefits to you
- PPTP Server and PPTP Connection Tracking Enhancements -- Further improvements have been made to the NetBoxes PPTP server and PPTP connection tracking which may improve reliability for some clients. Additionally PPTP connection tracking can now be disabled through the web interface. This setting can be found at Configuration | Advanced | PPTP Connection Tracking.
- New "ARP Ping" Tool -- The NetBox now offers a tool to
help you diagnose those frustrating IP conflict problems on your network.
This tool reports all MAC addresses on your network that are attached to a
particular IP address. This tool can be found under Administration | Internet
Tools | ARP Ping.
- Support for Gigabit Ethernet -- The NetBox now supports Gigabit Ethernet for newly sold units (Office model and above). Gigabit support means the NetBox is ready as your network expands.
- New LCD Software -- The software that drives the NetBox LCD and watchdog unit has been re-developed. The LCD now provides more useful link status information and other important messages.
- Security Enhancements For Email Scanning -- Minor security enhancements have been made the the NetBoxes email scanner to keep up with the latest email based threats to your network.
- Even Faster Reconnections -- A few seconds have been shaved off the time it takes for the NetBox to reconnect to the Internet after the link drops out or the NetBox is powered on.
- Back-end Support for Exciting New Features -- This release incorporates
most of the functionality for a host of impressive new features. Expect the
following modules to be available in the next release (due within the next
month):
- Network Traffic Shaping: Have precise control over how your network bandwidth is allocated. This powerful functionality will be available at a fraction of the cost of traditional bandwidth management appliances.
- User Defined DNS Zones: Define master and slave internal DNS zones for your network through a simple-to-use, comprehensive web interface.
- Office to Office VPN Web Interface: A web interface will be available to allow you to easily configure VPN's between NetBoxes. Previously this required the assistance of a NetBox engineer.
