Details of this update and their benefits to you

  • New Look User Interface -- The NetBox user interface has been revamped and incorporates a our new logo and colours as well as a new user interface engine. User input handling and error handling has been improved making the interface even easier to use. We hope you enjoy the new look!
  • "Configuration" User Interface Restructure -- The configuration section of the user interface has been reorganised to make things clearer and provide more screen space to users with smaller screen resolutions. Obsolete settings and sections have been removed, input validation has been enhanced and bulk changing of settings is now a breeze. Additionally, if you make a change to a setting and forget to click Save/Update, you will be prompted to make sure you don't lose the changes.
  • Improved Network Monitoring Backend -- Major improvements to the Network Monitoring feature have been made to reduce internal resource requirements. This means more resources are available for other NetBox functionality such as email hosting, virus scanning and web caching meaning the NetBox runs more smoothly.

    Additionally some small problems regarding time zone handling have been resolved.
  • Integrated Email Testing Tool -- The NetBox now includes a tool to allow you to test the configuration of an email address or domain. The tool individually tests all email servers responsible for a particular email domain. This can be invaluable when setting up a new domain, changing email servers, re-delegating DNS records or diagnosing email problems. To use the tool go to Administration | Internet Tools | Test Email Configuration in the NetBox web interface.
  • New "Maximum Cached Object Size" Setting -- A setting is now available to control the maximum file/page size that the NetBox web cache will store. It may be useful for some sites to tune this value to control what is cached by the NetBox. This setting can be found under Configuration | Advanced in the web interface.
  • PPTP Protocol Fix -- A low level networking fix has been added to improve the performance of the NetBox PPTP server and outbound PPTP connections.
  • Web Caching Issue Workaround -- A workaround has been added to the NetBox web cache to resolve problems with certain web sites not refreshing correctly when the site changes. This is caused by certain combinations of web browser and web server software.
  • Security Patches -- Various security updates have been made in response to newly discovered vulnerabilities and current security activity.
