Netbox Blue announces first Cyber Bullying Prevention Engine for schools

Australian Unified Threat Management vendor, Netbox Blue, has released their much anticipated Cyber Bullying Prevention Engine (CBPE), as an integrated feature of the SecurED internet and email management solution for schools.

The CBPE is the first email filter of its kind, specifically designed to indentify, report and manage the very real threat of cyber bullying in the education sector. School networks across Australia already use SecurED to protect internet-enabled students and manage schools' email, internet and networks. The CBPE adds another crucial layer to that security infrastructure according to Netbox Blue Chairman, John Fison.

"Cyber bullying is a complex and very worrying problem for schools across Australia," Mr Fison says.

"A survey of girls aged between 12 and 15 by the National Coalition Against Bullying found 42% reported being bullied online or by text message. The Cyber Bullying Prevention Engine gives schools another weapon to tackle this enormous problem. It is a valuable means for schools to discharge their duty of care, by protecting students and staff from abusive email."

"The CBPE can be set up to block inappropriate email, report which email has been blocked and even shadow copy blocked email to teachers, administration staff or even parents."

"This means peace of mind for parents, students and staff," Mr Fison says.

The SecurED solution comes with a pre-loaded suite of email filters that can be customized for the specific school's needs. The CBPE will be available on both physical SecurED appliances, as well as the virtual edition SecurED appliances, that run completely on VMware.
